Considerations for building lean to sheds. once i decided what and where to build, it was time to consider other factors affecting the design and placement of the lean-to. the location of trees, bushes, and gardens i’d already considered, but the effect of frost on attached vs. unattached was equally important.. When your shed or other storage building no longer provides enough room, you can add additional storage if you add a lean-to onto a shed. if the existing shed is structurally sound and has an exterior wall to which you can attach your lean-to, adding a lean-to can be a fairly simple project..
